HUNTER’S LAMENT

Part One of the Alerian Chronicle.
The Guild City of Aleria is a place of opportunity, prosperity, and possibility. It is also the place where Heath Longsight has chosen to create a new life of obscurity. A man with a dark past, he lives as an outlander, a loner, and a ruthless bounty hunter with a notorious reputation. That changes when he takes a contract for an enigmatic patron alongside a mercenary guild. Betrayal and forced trust brings him to join the group who would someday take the name Shattered Silence, coming to call them allies and even friends. These green mercenaries, alongside their new ranger companion, face down criminal syndicates, fearsome creatures of nightmare, and perhaps even some insidious threads working towards a greater end.
As they investigate and stand ready to defend Aleria, threats beyond the mundane begin to emerge. And when remnants of his past begin to claw upward, Heath is forced to face them lest they reveal themselves to his new allies. A part of him he swore off, leaving in his wake to never be seen again. As Heath must acknowledge old allies with broken bonds, former rivals, and those who see him as the villain; a convergence of his past and present draws ever closer to a collision he is helpless to prevent.
